ESAG honors students and educators performing and participating in plays without music. Performers and technical theatre students are recognized for their achievements in their school plays at our yearly ceremony. Our mission is to promote inclusivity in the field of educational theatre. Our hope is that this opportunity will lead to more students pursuing careers in theatre arts.
Eligible students are in grades 9-12. Eligible performances are anything that had an audience of larger than 20 people. Shows must be performed in an educational setting, which excludes community theatre performances.
Teachers will be able to make up to 10 nominations for eligible students and productions in a variety of categories through a Google Form and Shared Folder submissions. Evidence includes a written recommendation, video footage/recorded material, and images.
Each nomination will be assessed by an adjudicator using a rubric-based model that includes four categories: Gold with Recognition, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
Students who receive Gold with Honors in acting will receive a chance to perform a monologue at the ceremony.
